Patrick masterfully mixes legendary and mythic layers in this series. I start out reading knowing that they're going to come together somehow, and yet when they do, it's still unexpectedly awesome every time.

I love Benedict Patrick's Yarnworld setting. It has such a great fairy-tale feel that doesn't quite match what you usually get in fantasy, particularly in fantasy aimed at adults.

Man, this story moves fast, I feel like I finished the first in a series at about 30% and now about halfway through the second book... but at the same time, it just flew past. It doesn't feel like it's skimming over stuff, it's just that a lot happens and everything changes dramatically as it hits different markers. It's not a story for people who love a single central POV, but I'm really liking it a lot.

I got an ARC of this one and after taking a peek at it, I couldn't put it down!

I like the world building so far, but the prose is a little wanting. The writing has a very YA/MG feel to me, which is not how this book is advertised.

Finally getting into this one... I've made a few false starts on it, but this time I'm ready to give it a go! There are a few formatting problems on my Kindle copy, but the story's good so far.

I'm not sure if it's the translation or that this book just isn't for me. Not sure I can take much more of it. It feels like a child describing a fantasy about living in their favorite video game.

I don't know if it's the translation, or the style, but this reads like it was written by Mojo Jojo. "Everyone was there watching as the man picked up the 200 pound rock. He lifted the rock in front of everyone, and it was 200 pounds! The 200 pound rock was in front of everyone and the man hefted it!"

Seems like the story starts about 1/4 of the way through the book.

I have a baby and this book is keeping me up too late at night. :p
