she crazy and gay so i expect this to be fun

before starting i did a quick search to learn who eve babitz was and why i was hearing her name a bit more (outside of HW) read that her novels (not sure if it applies to all) are semi-autobiographical and her prose is lyrical. getting a bit of that, which makes it fun to read, but well i still fell asleep the first two days of reading… “advice to… eager for a good time” so let’s pick it up babitz girl

appreciate the intention behind character pov changes for once thank god. it seems like i keep reading novels that switch pov in attempt to add dimension to the story, maybe... but it falls flat because the switches pull you out from one character’s pov too abruptly or switch to character who is even less developed than all the other shallowly-developed characters (who could be more developed with less switches)

cyrus is genetically gay and depressed

i couldn’t remember who arash was (confused him with ali for a bit) so i spent all of chapter 11 feeling bad for him and now im mad as hell because he deserves to die!

cyrus’ dad’s part in chapter 10 where he talks about living happening to you….. 🫤

parenting and being a child of parents is so unfortunate LMAO

if you want something that’s immediately a page turner, and not slow to start, this may be it. sort of thrown off by how frequently i’m running into novels with a cast of main characters and alternating POVs as of recent but at least this wasn’t a surprise

not sure what mark’s motivation was for all that… was he just mad about jinx? 😭
