Loads of interesting history, not just the recounting of the haunting.

The book cover is much better than what is shown here! It features a ghostly figure in white and smoky grey, hovering in front of a black and grey castle turret with a black and grey sky. With tones of blue throughout the picture which is done in a faded stamped ink style it is atmospheric. Not started reading it properly yet.

Usually this kind of story would focus on the younger girl in the book, Derry, as she is having lots of adventures and fun with her friend Bill. However the older girl Helen who is just embarking on her adult life is the main subject, how she deals with her employer and looks out for the younger girl. Also her first ‘romance’ -nothing sloppy or OTT. The descriptions of Rye are as appealing as Malcolm Saville’s.
