Where'd my interest go?! Been a month have I haven't picked the book back up. Going to return to the library unfinished :-(

I'm not sure I'm going to finish.... kinda had me hooked for a bit but the last little bit, with the pacing changing a lot, it has lost my interest.

The preceding story, the Celestial Sisters, features crop circles and, reading with a modern view of this old tale from over two hundred years ago, aliens. Intriguing.

Not a good fit for the kids atm. Later again.

Really good content, but it isn't drawing me in. Will try again down the road.

So two paragraphs on bread making but seven pages on wine? Tad imbalanced on this chapter.

Such a fun read!

Fascinating explorations of fungi and their history on humanity.

The book is both annoying me and intriguing me at the same time. The physical facts of how slow he is going and how much he is wearing out his shoes (second visit to the cobbler? Come on) tell me the author did t really think this part through. The slow slow reveal of what to me is an obvious 'twist' ahead is being played out well. Harold's moods are tough to grok.

If only he walked barefoot he wouldn't have all these blisters ;)

The Malta story had a different vibe.

Spankings, 'darkeys', 'seen not heard',... Ah life 140 years ago in the big woods.

It is like sitting in the room with these people.

Such terribly dense material. Hard to read too much at once.
