Just love Tim Winton's style of writing. His wit, his descriptions, his depth of understanding of the human condition. his characterisation is so clear without the need to over guild the lily. I can feel the heat of the sun I can see the carrot top cousins. All his characters are real.

Took my time reading this book. There are many thought provoking gems between the covers. For example on unrequited love "Everything is possible in love. In the heart of each of us there can be many rooms and sometimes there are". " Loving others. is the good thing we do in our lives".

This book is beautifully written. The characters are real and have depth.

reading first book on Nexus 7. Can't decide whether I would rather read a real book. Story is so far intriguing.

gripping tale. a page turner in the true sense of the word, short chapters

wonderful story. so real. so challenging. the ending gripped me to the core - for some reason I had not predicted the ending. I hoped for a happy ever after but on reflection the ending was the right one - the real one, the credible one. love stories don't always have happy endings - in fact there may be more "painful" love stories than happy ones in the world.

unfortunately I could not finish this book. it did not capture my imagination enough to persevere. maybe it is a book that needs to be read in larger chunks rather than 10 pages at night.
