The book ends in a way that just disappoints. I’m left feeling nothing for this book. It is not terrible but not good either. Just lukewarm.

100 page check in.

This book has finally picked up its pace and I’m all in. The parts that take place in the 1930’s has just now made clear what is happening in the 70’s. I do have my suspicions on how this book will end and let us see if I am right.

First 100 pages are a time when I usually say will I finish? And I’m happy to say yes I will finish.

This book has a little bit of mystery and I’m down to see where it will take me. I am enjoying the life of our two main characters. This book seems slow and deliberate so far. Will check back after another 100 pages.

This book has me hooked. I never would have thought that M.L. Wang would be giving Sanderson a run for his money with a hard magic system.

What an interesting first day with this book. It feels to me that I’m going into a hard journey as a woman makes it into a man’s world.

A slow pace is an understatement. Besides this character study I’m slowly waiting for something to start to move.

So glad that I reread the first book and then went directly to the sequel. With the pov change it feels like a different book in a good way.

I keep asking myself why did it take me so long to jump into this story!

I’m going to have to think long and hard about how I truly feel about this book.

At the 50% mark! I can see how this is a story about how an individual can hold onto something so hard and be in denial about reality and how things inevitably change.

First day into this book and it is going at a slow pace and that is ok with me. So far I’m on board and ready for things to amp up.

What a fun day of reading. This book is kicking off 2025 new releases with a bang.

My first day is completed and I can say I’m enjoying this ride. Also Mr. Chang is a fun character and I hope we will be seeing a lot more from him in the upcoming pages.

Going through this book I’m carrying for the cast and I do have interest into the bigger story. My biggest wish is that I will start to become truly hooked into everything. But sadly so far I’m Lukewarm.

First book that I have read with these two authors. I can say the early chapters seemed to be setting up the story until whiplash the story has changed. No idea where the story is going but I’m on board.
