Makayla is on page 100 of 304 of Rich Girl Nation: Taking Charge of Our Financial Futures
While the intro and first chapter were written in a very semi humorous/self-effacing-anecdote heavy style that I didn’t love, I think I’m liking this book more than expected.
While I’m definitely currently below the wealth & income brackets being covered, I am finding the stock market advice interesting, and I like the net worth (not income) driven personal finance analysis.

Displaying my school and occupation gave me brief feelings of superiority, but they also made me feel insecure. I hate the fact that I’m not a great writer despite my studies, that I haven’t read anything despite working at a publishing house. The person I’m most jealous of at work graduated from a provincial university.

Makayla is on page 82 of 278 of Carbon Democracy: Political Power in the Age of Oil
With the exception of the first ~30 pages, this books has had much less to do with carbon, coal, and oil than I expected.

Realistic and diverse array of internal conflicts regarding young ppl coming to terms with their queer identity (or current/perceived lack thereof). But idk about the internal monologue/general writing style yet.

I like that the author is getting more opinionated/expression feelings other than self deprivation and general exhaustion.
But I don’t think I completely agree with her assessment of victim mentality, or at least I think the writing makes me think of confirmation bias.

Oof, very relatable friend situation (the corporate breakfast + bisexual dating partner confession from a former college friend).

I related so much to this description of lamya’s experience of gender!
And the implication of gender as‘original sin’ in the story of Adam/Eve was fascinating.
