amazing to read on the beach

I only read the first essay but it was so transformative. I really appreciate the level of detail and willingness to travel through the history of how we make science which ultimately comes back to us in ways we would never expect. And I was just thinking about Prussian blue too

Though I’m reading this series completely out of order, I am so happy I picked up this book. So far it’s the best thing I’ve ever read.

Reflecting on what she would say in the 1960s if she knew the prison population would reach 2 million: “As racist and undemocratic as this country may be... I do not believe that the US government will be able to lock up so many people without producing powerful public resistance. No, this will never happen, not unless this country plunges into facism.”
