listening to this. moments in torrential rain on the highway to adelaide. moments painting the exterior of my grandparents house in the infernal summer heat. zoning in and out. thinking about the value of literature.

This feels like a fable like the alchemist, important but not entirely important to me. Fulfilling a lot of classic archetypes and plot archs.

Very populated start to the reading year. This was one of the two books i started in a day and its sticking.

Patchett's voice seems younger than these precious days, the humour is not as sharp, as are the general worldy descriptions. Excited to see where this book goes

Ellsworth Toohey section was more of a drag, the world of the novel seems to sicken. Before that, around halfway my want to read this petered out a bit. It's a book very involved in itself and asserting it's characters.

I have had quite a few philosophical thoughts being stimulated by this perspective though and found myself bringing it into my every day conversations to rebound of it.
