This has really lost a lot when they combined food and travel. And I miss pieces that really captured good food writing and good travel writing. This seems to be forfeited in the last few years in favor of whatever the current social themes are and it’s a shame. I keep reading these but every year it feels harder to finish.

These have felt more like a slog in the last few years bc of the lack of fresh new writers and what feels like a status quo message/theme (with all the Best American collections) but I keep hoping for collections like the ones in the 90s/early 2000s.

Took this out of the library bc I’m not giving a penny to them for this one. I’m not entirely sure she’d be happy with this and want to see how they’ve curated this.

One of the parents on our Space Camp team this past summer recommended this book to me. I’m missing Camp a lot and figured I’d finally read it.

This is just what I needed. His writing is always such a balm to the soul. Reading this, I just want to be friends with him. I love it.

Ah yes, describing her “old-school Jewish doctor.” Not sure why she went with that description.

I don’t understand why her boyfriend..ex boyfriend? Not even sure what they are; they’re not very well-matched - I’m not sure why he keeps popping up in parks when every time, she complains about feeling more alone. She says she’s doing the most amazing thing she’s ever done and feels invisible. Yes, bc you’re still situating yourself in a failing relationship instead of focusing on your trip.
