Lots of theories and facts so far, but not that many developed arguments.

Onfray's comparison to the "new atheists" so far doesn't make that much since to me as he takes meta-ethics way more seriously and is a better stylist.

Miller and I went to GCSU's MFA program together, and his work has been enriched by working with Anglo-Saxon translation. While Miller's work has always been interesting, there is a richness in his lines and a willing to flirt with more ancient formal conventions that make his poetry feel more embodied so far.

I am not sure how convincing all the Mishnah references are for understanding how Jews would have encountered Jesus before Pharisees "evolved" into Rabbinic Judaism. That said, Neusner is a close reader of both the gospel of Matthew and the Mishnah so far.

The inciting incident is somewhat cliche, and the main couple is a bit too witty, but the small details are lovely and the world building is engrossing so far.

This is very, very strange. IT feels like a Paul Verhoeven movie satirizing the 1980s mixed with The Running Man, but it so far, doesn't entirely make sense.

C. Varn is on page 56 of 322 of Confucius: And the World He Created
While the first chapter seemed a little pollyanna, the historical chapters are very interesting and open my eyes a good bit.

Amis is such a good writer and craftsman, but the history in this is ad hoc and reflections don't seem particularly organized so far. I am learning from it, but I am also learning that I want to re-read the books Amis references and would rather he write about his tension with the Marxist/Trotskyist left in more detail
