Tomoko is on page 12 of 176 of The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner
I'm reading the ladder edition of this; 3000 vocabulary version. It was the only one in store, so as long as I can read the story, I wouldn't mind. It seems to be about who holds out longer, in a hard and stagnant situation. I can relate to that, who can't? ? It's all about inner strength and tough days. It kind of nurtures you like a soil, when you look back. While being inside it's tortuous. Surely a lot going on.

A sequel to Jurrassic Park, I'm not particularly interested in paleontology, but this book I can not put down every time I pick it up. What kind of an author can write like that? Not giving away details, but it's one of those books you finish reading without having even noticed it.

Kind of getting tired because I'd seen it all in the movie, and to go through that again in letters.., I might just jump on to another story. However when I want to get my job on track again, it'll probably be one of the books where I'd turn to.

'For most people, the ringing of the phone was a welcome sign. Someone was trying to reach them, to say hello, ask about their well being, or make plans. For me, it triggered fear, intense anxiety, and heart-stopping panic. ..they were nothing short of imperative.' ...and THAT's Miranda, and I can literally empathize with this line.

Because you saw the movie at premier with a million other female business-people. Because you need a promotion and something uplifting. Because you crave fashion even though it's kinda too late. I'm going to finish this and build a career worth my life. Also interested in reading the sequel as well!

Camus' consistent style of observation-analysis- insight is emotionally lukewarm, not necessarily too cynical nor nihilistic, in my opinion. Trying to keep that one ray of hope alive, the hope that there should somehow be a way out. The drains and agonies, but at the same time that human struggle and the will and the search for meaning.

My whole body ached this morning. I wonder if it has anything to do with being immersed in this book. I still love reading this, though. The pace is slow, nothing really happens, and that void is the very essence of what the plague leaves us with. The book changed my thought, though. All this time, what people didn't want to be infected was this plague. Letting this sink in. Viewpoint from the other side of the room.

The translation is perfect-exquisite. I find myself silently nodding in my mind to the countless journeys of thought by this author. The similarities of what's going through in our times and the ways of back then is simply unbelievable.

Camus' words, and literally every single word, sinks in, sooo much. Hits home these days, like no other. I guess people are still unaware that the internet itself is another metaphor for the plague in the 21st century, or AI as well in a broader sense. The line between the normal days and that something wrong that people have to put up with.. that subtle line. Gosh, I am so going to finish this book.

Tomoko is 20% done with 人の本音が一瞬でわかる本: しぐさとクセから相手を知る心理学 (王様文庫)
I used to flip through so many of these types of how-to books. However, after pregnancy and spells of oxytoxin-ridden days, followed by global what-nots, all of my previous knowledge on these kinds of practical wisdom all vanished.
But these are must-reads in relationships. It will make things just so much easier.
