Going great. Truly interesting narrative of a mothers quest for justice. Lots of really important details surrounding interactions with government departments who try to avoid providing ones personal documents.

I wasn’t able to finish, disliked the main characters so much I disengaged with the story. I really wanted to like this title, as have listened to Laurie in real life and love his way of speaking to a group. It’s my fault, not yours Laurie.

Finding this book tough going, skipping a lot of content. In a bizarre moment in the memoir Robert briefly explains his marriage to his cousin. This recount offered no emotionality and Did not describe their budding romance or how their families came to accept the relationship. As a reader I was left wanting so much more at this point in Roberts writing, but he keeps a tight lid on his inner emotional world.

So far Robert has talked entirely of the lead up to his political career. I’m waiting for his adoptive story to appear.. no significant mention of how it felt to be adopted through his formative years. Very compartmentalised writing- no cross over of lived experience and his inner emotional world
