Really trying to decide if I am going to try to slog through this book. I can tell that Thoreau takes 1000 words to say what could be said in 100. :) He seems quite harsh in some of his assessments, but I think there are a lot of ironies and contradictions in them nonetheless. From reading other reviews, others have found this to be true, as well. I find myself presenting in my head the biblical counter as I read.

Enjoying reading this through with Andrew. Goes along nicely with The Holy Spirit which I'm reading in tandem with a women's group at church. Love Schaeffer's way of making weighty truths easier to understand without compromising the meaning.

Reading this with a womens group at church. Definitely an insightful read and brings up so many things I would not have thought about. He also brings fundamental truths to light and I have found it helpful in appropriating them to myself rather than just mankind in general, which I think I have done in the past.

Having a hard time following author's reading. Does not flow well in my opinion. Interesting to hear how pirates were very celebrated in the 17th and 18th century by common citizens.
