I’m about a third of the way into listening and ready to give up. My heart breaks for these young women, but the writing is not pulling me in.

Timely read as we’re experiencing severe drought after a wet early summer. Eerily similar to this 1947 historical Maine fiction.

It has the pace of a Laura Dave novel and the isolation of Tara Westover’s Educated. I’m hooked!

Schaffer has the impressive ability to write truly engaging and original novels. Four young adults escape their difficult realities to experience fantastical narnia-esque alternate reality.

Eleanor attempts ‘wild’ things every month to spark joy in her life. Nothing works until she and her twenty something friends buy a crumbling house in the country. The big risk is she’s in love with one of her housemates. Fun premise with comedic moments.

Lowe’s writing drew me in from the first page. I was immediately invested in Sonny’s location scouting career and her curiosity for Indigo Island’s recluse Hudson Renfrew. Sonny’s victimization by the film producer’s active sexual assault set me on edge.

Poppy is flailing in LA and her aunt bequests gives her a lifeline to jumpstart her writing career in France. The plot felt forced and predictable. I craved more connection to the characters and less time in Poppy’s agonizing vacillating head space.

The audio book is cracking me up, such a hoot! Hope it finishes strong.

Cozy UK holiday read. Estranged sister Maggie, Simone and Star are reunited to fulfill their late father’s wishes.

Gobbled it up, loved the immersion into tv and theater costume design. Marlowe’s insecurities and unfolding into trusting Angus rang true.

5 stars for how tenderly depression is handled in this sweet story. Meteorologist Arielle and sportscaster Russell connect in a scheme to get their warring KSEA bosses to fall in love again.

Precocious Flavia would easily surpass Nancy Drew’s investigative skills! Set in 1950’s rural England, Flavia’s tenacity and chemistry expertise help her solve a murder at her family’s ancestral home.

Charming installment of the Beach St bakery series. Acrophobic Marisa finds her way back to community and love in a remote British island. The audio reading was lovely.

I adore O’leary’s writing! There’s a time twist device in this one that didn’t end up working for me.

Multigenerational Baltimore family saga, wasn’t for me.
