And the devices used to push a plot along...ughhhhh. This better end better. I guessed the boyfriend's name from the second he was mentioned the first time. The reveal was so irritating because why would she say his full name like that?!?!

If Vanessa dies, I will be so sad omg. Also, this book is making me feel a way that none of my parents' siblings have loved me like Joan loves Frances. I feel... a way. That would have been so nice.

I also felt so seen in the way Joan described what God means to her. Same, sis. Same.

I'm 290 pages in and feels like the story isn't really going. A few things have happened, but it's been...meh.

It's cozy, so I'll finish it, but I don't think I'll continue the series. We love a found family though.

I'm a bit woo woo, so this is definitely for me. It got to the part where she was talking about the deities to look up to...this is the part where I was a little nervous because I wasn't sure if she was going to mention any of the Orishas, but I caught that she was naming deities from other cultures and then we got to Oya. Breathed a little sigh of relief lol.
