Listening to this as a family because S has gotten into horror and watched Welcome to Derry. It's probably going to take all year!

Some of the language in this book is a bit esoteric and hard for me to parse (especially when I am listening before bed) but I just spend the second half of chapter 6 nodding my head vigourously and occasionally saying "Yes!"

I was trying to read this before pub day but I wanted to re-read Honey & Spice first (which I still loved!) Excited to get started now.

This book is really engaging right from the jump! Particularly noticeable as I just slogged through a book to 20% before DNFing out of ambivalence and boredom.

Oof. I have been meaning to start this for days and not being able to get back to sleep after waking at 4:30 a.m., this was exactly what I needed this morning.

Starting this later today with a mix of managed expectations (I've noticed some very mixed reviews in my feed recently) and a strong desire to love this book.

Between the narration delivery and the general sense of humour, Steven Rowley makes me laugh out loud a lot!

It's happening!

Oof. I see we're starting right off the stop with an example that has American Imperialist slant . . . I'm still listening but I'm not sure I want to be emulating CIA agents who manipulate people into being spies against their country.

Already a few laugh out loud moments. There is something about the way Kiley Reid writes that makes me feel like I am in league with the POV characters and we are both being a bit petty. (To be clear, I'm here for it.)

I requested this ARC because I enjoyed the author's novellas on Audible but now I'm wondering why I signed up for a surprise pregnancy book!? Let's see how it goes!

I liked the one Jenny Holiday book I read well enough, but I'll be honest, I am reading this book 100% because I want to hear Joshua Jackson's narration. #TeamPacey

I squeezed in another chapter while making lunch (I love audiobooks) and hot damn this author's voice works so well for me.

What an opening chapter! I regret listening to it during my tea break because it's hard to put it down to go back to work now.

Sometimes the synchronicity of the media I consume really strikes me. This is the second litfic book I've read this year with a young woman leaving her home country and complicated family relationship for New York City (and a love of photography.) That said, the vibes are def very different! Still really enjoying this one.

I've only just started this and it reminds me of some of the best litfic I read in my youth.

A small part of me wants to DNF this book because it feels so dense and still trippy. But I'm very into the content and finding it the perfect thing to pick up in my "stop reading fiction and go to sleep Corinne" window at bedtime.

I forgot how much I enjoyed these stories!

I'm very sad that in this version Mrs. Madrigal sold the house! Also Laura Linney much more endearing than she is in the books...

This is a very long book. I'm still deciding if it's worth sticking out but it's written in very digestible snippets so I'm going to keep on keeping on for now.

Reading a few pages of this every few nights with the kids and every time I do they ask me to "read one more". So that's a good indicator of their enjoyment!

I am working through this slowly but I have to say that it's blowing my mind (and it's a bit trippy.)

The build up in this story is *chef's kiss*. Especially considering we are getting close to zero internal dialogue. Really well narrated.
