hahaha imagine if I finished this book…no really imagine…like yeah it’s good but also im on page 500 and there’s…402 pages left…

The desire to be near the beloved object is at first not due to the idea of possessing it, but simply to let the two experiences compare themselves, like reflections in different mirrors. All this may precede the first look, kiss, or touch; precede ambition, pride or envy; precede the first declarations which mark the turning point — for from here love degenerates into habit, possession, and back to loneliness.

How are we pronouncing “Chaol” is it like chaos so like “Kay-ol” or is it like “Kale”. Or is it “chowl”.

i said I wanted to read something chill after finishing my diss but I changed my mind bc of this:

“This book ought not to be regarded as a protest. Protest arises from the belief that one can change things or influence events. I am not egotistical enough to believe I can.

It might, perhaps, prevent the next generation from being crucified in the next war.

But I don’t think so.”

“Fortunately, some of Ibsen’s more far-out heroines — Hedda Gabler, Rebecca West, and Irene — are childless and this makes their suicides and falling off a mountain easier on the moral sensibilities of the audience” ok Elizabeth unfortunately you’re right😭

I KNEW ITTTT

I forgot how much Ian Fleming HATES women

Now what the hell

Burgess Park mentioned

the blurb on the inside of eve’s book being “in every young man’s life there is an eve babitz. It is usually eve.” ICONICCCCCC

really good and informative but you can tell he spent a LONG time working on this and lowkey started to lose it a little bit because why is he referencing Eminem in the footnotes…you okay there bud? maybe put the book down for a moment David. all love though

if ANYTHING happens to that little fire guy I’m gonna lose it. the rest of them can choke

that’s it I’m done for the night you’re telling me he got laid dressed as GRU??? ffs idk if I can do this guys

this book has actually turned me into a 50 year old Southern woman. just read a page that made me put the book down and say “oh good lord” out loud.

adding this so I’m forced to finish it

oh okay so the two weekend bartenders at the small towns only bar are the retired professional ice hockey player turned cowboy and the towns number one fireman. I’m sensing a sequel #challengers

I don’t know if I can do it guys I just wanted a nice break from reading about war but this book has quite possibly the most insane dedication I have ever read (page 1 mind you) and I have read a LOT of trash. like it’s so bad I can’t even repeat it here. Get the exorcist on speed dial run the holy water bath I’m scared for my life

I hate every page

I’m not reading this by choice btw. It’s due on Tuesday

“I’m a misandrist and a misogynist, I’ve got no patience for men or for women—I mean, nothing against them, I just don’t want anything to do with them, and I feel constantly like I’m being patronising, either that or it’s them patronising me. But I’m not a misanthrope, cause I do like gay men. They’re the one type of human you can get along with as equals” MIND YOU THIS IS THE OPENING PARAGRAPH

u know book club is a week away when we all start reading this (we had 3 months)

his mom (the president of the United States) making a full PowerPoint slide deck to explain to him the logistical international relations implications of his…international relations…is sending me like she’s so me fr I would’ve been there adding the White House logo to the corner of every single slide

idk I feel like it’s all going downhill a bit (no spoilers pls🙏)

they’re literally in a closet rn guys this book is so good

Before u call a wellness check on me, Ruby and I found the “romance” section of our local library and chose the worst looking book for each other

We are so back

“According to the American Society of Addiction Medicine, four out of five people who started using heroin during this period did so after initially abusing prescription painkillers”

“More Americans had lost their lives from opioid overdoses than had died in all the wars the country had fought since World War II” WHAT
