«Haverá tempo, ela diz, sabendo de algum jeito que no seu início está o seu fim e que as sementes da destruição talvez dormentes agora podem ainda hoje começar a germinar malignas dentro de si»

Essa frase da Sylvia me marcou não por considerá-la premonitória – detesto quando se reduz o legado de artistas suicidas às suas mortes – mas por demonstrar tão bem uma coexistência de esperança e aniquilação.

Started listening to this one as I was cooking for my boyfriend and I, it's heartbreaking and unexpectedly informative, yeah Joan was a intellectual it girl with privileges, but her heartfelt, yet sparing prose reveals artistry and intelligence. It also makes me so scared of losing loved ones, it's so hard to find them, how can you go on without them?

Essa pessoa que já estava morta décadas antes de eu nascer sabendo tanto de coisas que eu nunca falei, chega a ser meio perturbador... Me sentindo aquela moça de 17 anos, que ela menciona na entrevista de '77. Doideira como é a literatura.

I was adrift and the words wouldn't hit me, so I found a video of Siken reading one of his poems from this book, Straw house, straw dog, and read a tiny bit of context about this collection and now I'm sinking and these poems feel like tiny black holes, sometimes I think I'm too dumb to read poetry, but now I'm just slightly devastated

I'm fond of her neuroticism and the dissection of her own literary devices among the detailed scenes of her life, there's no Plath critic as ruthless as herself. At the end, it's all about practice and hard work, even if the results are still not as impressive, it seems like she won't rest until they are.

I know some of these deep sea biology facts are being purposefully misinterpreted for the sake of the narrative, but it's kind of annoying... 1) It's not unusual for life in the deep sea to be scarce 2) Deep sea gigantism compromises the mobility of the creatures affected 3) Deep sea metabolism is always slow, they're mostly slow motion animals. I'm aware I'm no fun at parties...

A perfect balance between the ingenuity of youth, the sharp thinking of a good writer and the black void of depression. Themes can get a bit repetitive, but you can see Plath is constantly trying to refine her thinking and writing – engrossing.

This occasionally reads like a Bret Easton Ellis novel, it is not bad at all, I just wish Lena's brutal honesty would touch her victimized persona as well –although this is a memoir and I would not ask someone to be purposefully cruel with themselves for art. But it makes it hard to feel deeply for someone who never takes responsibility for anything in her life, failures or achievements.

At work, I found it was hard to act or direct when I wasn’t, in fact, a person. I wondered if everyone on set could tell that an alien had replaced me. I wondered if my scene partners could feel how barely human I was. I remember doing a fight scene with Adam and how scary it was to meet someone so totally present with such absence.

Now this is a well-written eccentric woman who does not fall for the usual traps of portraying weird women, it's not cute, pleasant or done for the shock, she's just trying her best very dysfunctionally. Problematic that I feel too close to Natsuki, but I can't help it.

Is is the most romantic DC book yet?

It's all about warmth, but it doesn't have the huge, impersonal blandness of sunlight, or the detailing and slight insanity of a flickering fireplace, or the clinical heat of a heater, or the wild rush you get plunging into a hot tub. It's a weaker heat, more poetic, and it practically itches'.

Oh, I think I finally found an example of Bill Willingham's weird politics... it was a detail but ugh – he also lightly, but unnecessarily, retconned Ragman's origin, that's one character I don't think Bill properly understood, Ragman is all about moral complexity much like the Jewish Golem, but apparently the writer is more comfortable with reductionist perspectives when it comes to racial issues...
