The approach is rather interesting. I agree with Geisler and McCoy at the beginning of chapter 8, they have represented "the atheist's" (see the Introduction of the book for what they mean by this) position in a fair way. However, the book's thesis takes a little bit to develop, and I think once you reach the end of the book the "pushing through" you did to get there was definitely worth it.
