The storyline is genuinely captivating and full of potential. But the execution is bad at every turn. Layers of tonal inconsistency, weak prose, and deeply flawed execution. While the story’s dark romance potential is undeniable, it collapses under repetitive scenes, clumsy POV shifts, and glorification of abuse disguised as emotional depth. Halfway through, its promise feels squandered by unchecked sensationalism.

Although the pacing slows, it’s balanced by a stronger focus on romance, adding depth and emotional weight. The plot thickens with the Earth situation, keeping the stakes high and the story engaging. I do wish there’d been more buildup with Chelenko - the sudden emotional shift feels a bit abrupt. Still, I’m eager to see how the love triangle unfolds and hope it gets even more complicated.

This story gripped me from the start - the stakes are clear early on, building instant tension. The prose is light and easy to read, making it a smooth, engaging experience. Some dialogue is left untranslated in German, which might challenge some readers, but adds a layer of realism I really enjoyed. I’m hooked, especially dying to know why Matthias didn’t follow her in the beginning.

The start of the book is very slow and nothing really happens. A lot of background information that should have been scattered throughout the book but instead it coagulated in the beginning. Hoping it gets better

The tone is fast‑moving and lyrical, the vibe is gothic and boundary-pushing, and even in the first ~10%, the dynamic between the naive heroine and these shadowy outsiders grips you hard—with enough heat, suspense, and emotional pull to devour in one sitting. Looking forward to the rest!
