I may come back to reading the rest of it but I don't know if I have the stomach for it.

I stopped reading this because it just became too much to bear reading of all these atrocities. The problem I had with it is more down to political lines - I find the Republican V Loyalist thing a shocking waste of lives and he is aware of this - his recollection of his dad saying that the Reverend Dr. Ian Paisley would use the blood of people like him within to further their careers which he himself feels prophetic.

It's a drier read than Steinberg's terrible mess of a biography but I'm enjoying it. You still get the impression the writer is not too keen on Bismarck per se but he doesn't use overly ostentatious use of language.

Obviously I'm not re-reading it - I just had to mention the error-riddled second chapter. Three chapters in - not bad for something I bought hours earlier but that does not change what I wrote earlier.
