Enjoying this but man do I hate how he writes women lol. One of those cases in dude fantasy where I would prefer it only had men instead of trying to make a strong female character who inexpcliably shows no emotion at all bc women who are strong can't emote or whatever blah blah

SGJ's writing style is so weird. I LOVE it.

If I had a nickel for every time a T Kingfisher book had a goth barista, bad phone service, and a woman with a single parent dealing with a creepy house that was influenced by a terrible grandparent, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

I really like T Kingfisher's writing, it's very digestible and she sets up horror elements well. I didn't like the second half of "The Twisted Ones" because it dragged so bad, but since this is a shorter novel I'm hoping that doesn't happen 🤞

I didn't realise this book is sort of steampunk-esque. Really digging it so far!! Idk why it's taken me so long to read this lol.
