Re-reading this, though may dump it if another library book comes off hold. I isn't write a review for it before but I didn't star it high either. So we'll see.

I accidentally read a little of this book before I realised and went back to the first. I have now finished and loved the first and resumed this one. I am finding myself a little bothered by the fact that Ben mad so much personal growth in book one, but now in the Hunger Time Games I keep reading him as seeming ~12 years old. I hope that passes.

Heavy shades of Douglas Adams in this one, I'm digging it.

Solid book so far. a bit dense after I've been on a bit of a reading hiatus. I haven't played the games, only watched some being played. So my usual issue with keeping who's who straight is well in effect. I have no doubt I will enjoy it and further books once I'm in the right move to jump the fuck in.

New and exciting developments!

This book is ridiculously fun.

Started this as a bit of a break from the grimdark future, then suddenly found myself in a few month break from reading entirely. Back to it now, though certainly not as grim as 40k, this isn't a lighthearted romp either. I'm fine with this.

I am putting this back on the to read shelf. I ran out of interest for heavy fantasy for a bit so despite the % complete, I didn't really absorb any of it

The grimdark future has me. I will never escape. Praise be the Emperor.

None of my previous issues with this author have been present in this book so far. And it's MUCH better than the TV that was attempted based on it.

Yet another HB book. starting out all grim post apoc, You've got my attention, book.

Another Humble Bundle grab. I've never read Gaiman before for reasons that probably label me a hipster, he's TOO popular in my general subculture, so I've avoided him until now.

Some friends and I found this book in a thrift store in the 90's. We loved it and passed around, dunno what happened to the original copy. It doesn't exist in digital form so I picked up a used copy from Amazon to see if it holds up to memory.

With military precision, four attendants held the doors open for Locke and Jean to pass. The two thieves stepped carefully down a wide set of stone steps covered with a red velvet carpet. That carpet was thrown out and replaced each night. As a result, in Tal Verrar alone could one find armies of beggars routinely sleeping on piles of red velvet.

I'm enjoying this ride though I'm unsure where it's taking me. The style is odd, very cinematic. It makes copious use of flashbacks, and flashforwards disguised as meanwhiles. It took me up until this point to settle into the rhythm and stop being annoyed with it.

So far nothing has come of the feared love triangle, and romantic/sexual relationships are remaining interesting bits the story but not really important to the overall plot, thank glob.
