I've read a lot of autobiographical fiction lately. And also a book about thatcher-era upper class british life. i think after this book I'll be done with both of those themes for a while.

You dip the really long audiobook in the long car ride and it's just good

I've been very slowly rereading this and am noticing all sorts of details and scenes I had forgotten the billion other times I read this. And maybe it's because I've lived a little more life since the last time I read it but the end of part 1 with Ivan is so. sad. in a way that hadn't registered with me before

You may be wondering, "Abe, you've been on page 50 of this book since mid April, why am I getting this update?" I have 5 days left of my last ever summer vacation and I need to finish this book before it's over so I restarted it.
"What happened to Fox?" I didn't want to read Fox because I actually couldn't stand the prose and the sexual abuse plot became so explicit, so quickly that I had to put it down.

Audiobooking, this looses all of its momentum at the start of part two. Also clearly indebted to Never Let Me Go, there are several moments which are nearly identical.
