Ch8 is a world of pain! Don't know if I'll ever get my head round content providers, and there isn't one for generic email, not even an official Gmail one.

6 was web stuff as constrained by mobile, so SAX and DOM, also download manager, putting all web activity on background threads etc. Illuminating stuff.
They say Java is an operating system masquerading as a programming language, in the case of Android that's true!
7 is files and the preference "framework".

Chapter 5 is all about Intents, mind-bending. Big fights with the IDE, rather proud of making it this far, looking forwards to more.

Ouch, done chapter 4! Layouts, fragments, activities, views, adaptors; all done without the help of Eclipse views, suppose we do need to know the basics. All set up on the test rig, onwards to Ch 5 & Intents!

Heavioso! Chap 3 is all about the manifest file, resources, the application and activities. Roll on some examples, these concepts are blowing my mind! Ah well, suppose this is the map of the planet.

Enjoying it, but he's using 2010s slang and attitudes supposedly 150 years hence. Imagination failure.
