Read the first two stories so far, "Sweets to the Sweet" and "The Dream Makers"

My first time reading a Jack London novel

BY THIS AXE I RULE! Such an energetic and motivating story.

Enjoying this so far, but it's definitely no Conan.

This anthology has been kind of weak so far, but Jennifer Allison's story in here was wild as hell. I'll update with thoughts and ratings for each story once I'm finished.

I started out liking this but now I'm not sure. It's taking a while for me get through this and I keep going back to another book I'm also reading.

I'm enjoying this so far. It feels like a more modern day pulp sword and sorcery type story but with more intricacies and world building to it. It does feel kinda cheesy at times and some of the writing is a bit clunky but I'll be damned if it's not action packed and entertaining.

Not looking good, this is shaping to be my least favorite of the series so far.

In the home stretch. This Part 2 of the book is so much more engaging than the first part.

Sancho has to be one of my favorite fictional characters in classic literature. I never tire of his witticisms and proverbs. 😂

In the home stretch, and my interest in this novel has sort of been revitalized. This second part of the story seems more focused and less filled with the tangents and histories that really irked me in part one.

Does this book ever end?
I've actually read longer - The Count of Monte Cristo - but that was far more enjoyable than this.

This is becoming so damn tedious.

Alright, I'm ready for this book to be over - but I'm hardly halfway through. 😫

I'm losing patience with these tangents and this story within a story (The Ill Advised Curiosity Novella). Ugh. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't skimming through some of this.

Is this story just one mishap after another for our protagonist? I'm hardly a quarter of the way through, and while it's not bad, I'm already feeling slightly fatigued by this.

A delusional wannabe hero sets out with glory on his mind, only to get himself in a heap of trouble and repeatedly get his butt kicked in skirmishes.
This book reminds me of the movie Kick-Ass; like a medieval version of that. Lol.

This is awfully melodramatic.

I'm digging the story itself so far, but something feels like it's missing - I'm not as invested in this as I have been with other KPB stories. Maybe KIN set the bar too high?

DNF @ Page 60. I really wanted to like this, and have heard good things about this dark fantasy series but I could not get into it at all - mostly, I think, due to the writing which contains a severe lack of prose, worldbuilding and explanation.

This book is dragging. I'm failing to see the masterpiece here that everyone else sees.

"War never brought peace - it but brings more and greater wars. War is nature's natural state - it is folly to combat it. Peace should be considered only as a time for preparation for the principal business of man's existence."

I like how in every Martian Tales book there's a new "lost" civilization of Martians discovered.

This better pick up soon or this is about to be one of the worst horror short story collections I've ever read...

Omg. This book is insane. And so well written. It's been a while since I've been unable to put a book down like this.
