For a thriller, this has been a surprising slog for me. I'm tempted to just not finish it but now that I'm almost halfway done I feel like I need to see it through.

Love this narrative voice so much already. Olga never misses.

Takes over 100 pages to get moving but now we're cooking.

This is my second ever Tachikovsky book and I really need to read more. This protagonist's swagless failways have captivated me.

Put of bunch of comics on hold at the library and they pretty much all came in at once, so my reading over the next few weeks is going to be wild.

So far this is... a collection of short stories? Curious to see where the structure ends up going.

I missed my subway stop home while reading this, which is a pretty good indication of what this book is like.

Kicking myself for waiting so long to read this - wonderfully dense and theory heavy without every being stuffy, joyously queer, and exactly what I needed to read at this point in time in history and in my life. I want to quote about every other page, but here's just one: "To be femme is to give honor where there has been shame."

Reading the chapter on polar bears and feeling real sad about climate change - this book was originally published in 1986, and ol' Barry had no idea how much worse it was going to get.
