The narrative fiction format of the author writing from first person based on the last known adventure journals of Fawcett before his disappearance is a really effective way to tell the story and keep my interest! Grann (the author) pairs this with third person chapters describing Fawcett’s fated last adventure into the Amazon (although I can’t tell yet how much of that is fictional)

I’m hoping this book has a strong finish because I’ve got about 80 pages left and I think it’s getting worse/less interesting, not better and MORE interesting?

Successfully made it 1/3 of the way through with NO sex scenes! All the reviews that mention anything about “sexy dragons” and “smoldering romance” should shut up because they’re (thankfully) wrong lol

Good news! NO weird, unwanted sex scenes (yet)! There WAS a slightly worryingly worded chapter in the dragon’s first person POV that MIGHT hint at future weirdly worded, uncomfy sexual endeavors later on?? But so far- not bad!

Semi confusing that each chapter shifts between 3 characters with different POV narration (I didn’t know there was a 3rd character?) but still not to bad

Just starting to read this and I am VERY scared that it will be like the last gay fantasy/dragon book and have FAR too many graphic gay sex scenes… wish me luck I guess?
(I will count it as a MINOR success if there is NOT a poorly written and overly graphic gay sex scene by page 12…)

Loving this book just as much as my first read!
