Really incredible book with lots of beautiful and transformative insights about plants but crucially how we relate to nature and each other through our actions, cognition, and language. Listening to the audiobook but also loaned the ebook to make notes and highlight all the passages and insights I want to retain. Even this early into the book, I already think everyone should read this and I won't be the same after.

Finishing this on audiobook after my library loan ran out.

I keep trying so hard to care about this book, but I just can't. The observations of academia are not unique or novel in any way. The writing or world building could be done by anyone else. Katabasis has nothing on Babel and is not R.F. Kuang'a finest work by far. I'm DNFing again for the final time. (Also, the narrator's American accent is not good and annoying).

I'm back again. 3rd time's the charm. Now trying the audiobook as my last attempt.

Waiting patiently for 1st Oct so my credits renew and I can finally finish the last 20 minutes of the audiobook. Emmy's been locked in that cupboard for the last few weeks...

Wow, we unexpected bisexual rep in the main male character! But let's wait to see if this is good rep or yet another bisexual cheater, non-commital/non-monogamist, or hyper-sexual, or any combo of the 3. HBY normally goes good diverse representation, so here's hoping 🙏

I've never heard anyone call it Liverpool harbour. The chapters of the family reunited supporting the sister in her postpartum were so sweet 🥺 it is a slow book, meandering but I'm enjoying it. Stuart is insufferable as a character. Whenever I hate characters in shows I think, wow how incredible is that actor to make me hate them so much, and I think this about the author getting me to hate Stuart so much.
