Apparently I can only get about ten pages at a time before something else catches my interest. It's good so far, just not something I can sit down and read. Small bursts.

Not all that impressed so far? There's some good bits peppered in, but there's also some pretentious prose and privileged advice that leave me thinking of a conversation with a friend of mine about how many people don't have a clue what it costs to live.

DNF. Maybe I'll come back to it eventually, but right now, I just. Can't. Quentin is irritatingly full of himself, insufferably miserable, and that's not even counting the misogynistic and overtly sexualized views toward every single woman he meets. I really don't think I'll miss these characters at all.

Oh. I didn't totally care much for Kat one way or the other before, she was nice enough but it wouldn't have upset me if anything happened to her, you know? I mean, it still wouldn't, really, but I like her more now.

i'm so glad i've been taking notes so i can go back and consult them and be like 'ha yeah that's confirmed' or 'okay completely wrong there' but like. this'll be so good if/when i reread? i mean. gotta finish the first read before that happens, but.

I have... so many questions and so much sadness for the lost loves in this book already

a) i love Dorian
b) v v mixed feelings on the lore? it draws me in after the first page or so but it always irks me at first to come across bc i'm into the main storyline more

"He wonders what, exactly, was in that thing he drank earlier." Me too wtf

I have got to stop trying to skip ahead now that I'm actually into the story because I just know I'm going to miss details in doing so

I feel like my own intelligence is draining with each new paragraph, yet I'm determined to stick through the rest of the book. That probably says more about me than I'd like to know.

I'm so angry and upset that this is the book we're learning from - the sentences are overcomplicated and the entire thing needs to be looked over again for its poor grammar. It's unnecessarily difficult to follow along. There's no audio version anywhere that isn't an additional $125+ and it's not available for Alexa to read to you, so good luck if you have any reading difficulties.
