it's so crazy how you can slog through a first half and then the second half of a book can completely change your opinion on the story and characters and writing...fascinating...still not five stars yet but definitely going up towards 4!

what i failed to account for in attempting to study the language of shakespeare via this play i know so well is that…i know it too well. i forgot i’ve known this since i was nine, acted in two productions of it, and studied it in class twice. oops.

gotta say, bell is a fantastic writer and thinker but i just don’t think this book is for me 😔 which is annoying but it’s fine 🫩

i gotta be so honest, while i think parts of this are wonderful, it’s so much more……christian than i expected (idk why i’m surprised) and it also feels very unforgiving? like why are we saying love is the be all end all when aro people exist! or why are we saying that addicts are greedy and are too addicted to really love! idk!
