need you all to know that this is not well written

but! it does feel like the F1 version of shane being in the hospital except it's life-threatening and ilya is a huge fucking emotional mess because he was going to tell shane he loved him right before he got into a racing car crash

so you can imagine what it feels like

i cannot get over travis' narrator like he is really committed to acting this audiobook above and beyond ahsflk

deeply unserious and yet, kinda endearing

absolutely wiiiiild audio narrators tho they are fully committed to this

idk man, i'm throwing spaghetti at the wall i need something addicting and brainless

rereading romance books on 2x speed audio is really so lifechanging

this book is nonsensical but unfortunately i love it still

well this story took an odd turn

this book is trying to do way too much in under 400 pages

this is such an odd book because objectively the world-building and writing style on a line level are lovely and really well done....but the characters are lacking and the plot is kind of uninteresting....and i think if this was like a first book in a series maybe i'd be more forgiving but it's a standalone from what i can tell....hmmm.....

i shouldn't be surprised by all the racism and ableism in here but whew it's a lot lemme just say

the plot on this is just. not that interesting.

nothing worse than a book with such a promising beginning that becomes middling and unimpressive by the last quarter

this book has everything: a newt named newt, a talking whale, sears the department store, god who is kind of vain, ocd rep, lesbian masturbation, nonbinary rep, an angel that looks like a bowling ball who will curse/bless you with never needing to eat for the rest of your life—

for a book with such a bizarre narration style and such weird abstract magical world building...this is kind of delightful! veryyyy strange and yet, yara is so endearing :,)
