Okay Kennedy! It’s a little predictable and corny, and I also love the way she paints a vivid picture. I need to learn how to use adjectives and metaphors like this :)

Meh :/ not super clear in what’s exactly happening. Going to stick with it though. It seems like a really cool premise so I want to see it through!

Good read so far. Very stark contrast to my research articles and even my typical recreational reads

This is a great bedside read. I go to sleep reflecting on love, what it means to me, where the lessons about love come from. And I wake up resuming my reading of a chapter that starts my day thinking about love as well.

Keeping my mind open to what this book can offer. It’s starting off kinda meh and contains lessons I’ve learned from other Black women in my life. We shall see though! Her writing style is cool.

I am 20 pages in, just finished chapter 1, and I am SO excited to keep reading. Super strong writing, vivid imagery, effective world-building. This is going to be GOODT!

Looking forward to coming back to this book over the years! Definitely a good book to revisit with a partner.

Okay it’s picking up a bit

I’m going to continue being patient. I like the writing style. I’m just not swooning over this love story that is brewing. It seems predictable so let’s see if the story plays out how I assume it will

The exercises in here seem like really good tools. I do them to a lighter degree by myself as I read this book. And also, these are great for me to do with a future serious partner. I look forward to coming back to the book over the years!

I’m trying to be patient with the setup and world building

This book helped reinforce some of the things I’ve been learning about grief, especially grieving the loss of a partner. I’m so grateful for what the author shared. Lots of patience, lots of both-and when it comes to emotions, lots of acceptance. And grace. And love in the present tense. And how it is because I loved so deeply that I now grieve.

Interesting premise, just not the best execution. I didn’t feel anything special reading this at all which sucks because there’s so much creativity and storytelling that had the potential to be in this book.

Good so far! It’s written more like a textbook (less dry and boring tho) so I’m learning new things about different dynamics. Still kind of in the intro part of the book so looking forward to continuing to learn
