Who gives a flying duck about that forking Johnny Appleseed story. Is this the history USA has of such an important fruit? It's terrifying in its dimwittedness. Straight to hell with this chapter and all its religious yapping.

Been reading this in German and it's too much of a culture clash I've realised...

Kathleen Jamie and Carolyn Finney: interesting. It's a bit hit or miss with these chapters, but I particularly dislike how long the quotes are, wrong length to do them justice. I also don't resonate with the things chosen, even from authors I like, a bit on the dreamy, vague and pretentious hippie side for me?

One chapter was a bit vague and all over the place, the other tried a bit too hard to excuse cowboy inspired writing instead of owning the problems.
