One of the things that annoy me is how all these 'artsy' men just take stuff from nature for their 'art'. They count on other people NOT doing these things, otherwise there would be no moss or pebbles or unharmed boulders left...

When you encounter a dolphin and a dog playing together, do you a) jump in and make yourself the centre of attention or b) marvel at the scene in front of you?

Not following "leave only footprints", but instead dragging rocks around, seems like an apt addition to the faults of this narrative.

"Like early colonists, researchers have christened the features of this rediscovered world." My dude, why use this as a metaphor for mapping a seabed, come on 😭

50 pages and 2 needless mentions of eroticism? This is going to be a love hate thing.

It's a book about walking, connecting with the landscape yadda yadda, and then he goes and takes a bike and goes down a hill too fast and crashes. What were you doing on that bike in the first place? Why go so fast? Huh?

Opens with winter scene: good. Opens with the dude drinking alcohol "to stay warm": not good. Hope the drinking isn't part of the approach to walking.

I want to yell at the patient. Does that make it a good or a bad book for me? Not sure yet.

It's ... not going well with this one.
