Jantine is reading To Let (The Forsyte Chronicles, #3)
Man I'm gonna miss the Forsytes. I'm not into soaps series at all but I certainly understand the appeal of following one group of people's ups and downs over a long period of time. It's like saying goodbye to a group of friends. It was Dickensian but less caricatural than Dickens tends to be; satirical, beautifully written, and it even had me feeling sorry for Soames by the end of it whom I had vowed to hate at first

I currently have two more bools by Nguyen lying on my nightstand, which should probably tell you enough! This was enchanting, powerful, and completely unlike anything I've ever read. Beautiful rendering of the gap between generations, between two countries, between war and peace, between poverty and wealth. I can't think of a better word for these stories but 'addictive'. Can't wait to read more of his work soon.

Rather dense and slow so far, but I'm sticking with it.

I'm already a bit peeved by her misuse of colons and the prose which gets too flowery at times, but keen to see where it goes.
