Kay is on page 304 of 377 of The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)
...Somehow I read about 232 pages, starting again from page 75. I was moving as slow as a snail days 9-10 of Jan, skipped Jan 11, and last night made up for it by accidentally forgetting to take some things, coughing so much, and having constant thoughts and songs playing through my head, such that sleep was impossible even with reading. That's rare for reading to not make me sleep.
Good book. >>> movie.

I read it to fall asleep faster. It works very well; the writing is difficult to get accustomed to if you're tired, hurting, and haven't read something like this in a while. On Ch. 4 rn and yes, I saw the movie already (I like spoiling myself some). The book will certainly not be the same.

Kay is on page 7 of 734 of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4)
Reading this to make myself fall asleep because it's difficult when my body won't let me and rewiring my circadian rhythm is a mountain of a task to take on at first. Something about reading a bunch of words on a page in the dim light makes me super sleepy vs staring at a screen or just lying in the static dark.

JK's writing: VERY impressed with book 6, chapter 26. 10/10 writing, > movie scene. I felt like crying.

This book is amazing and the Introduction alone perfectly described my internal struggle with trying to see the world around me and process it in my mind, and put that on paper (and later digitally).

This book is the bridge between color scientifically and color in pure mixing theory (the mysterious "color theory"). It has chapters split up to help combat the misunderstandings of it. 💖 Binge-reading.

Kay is starting The Screaming Staircase (Lockwood & Co., #1)
Left off on page 39, but my attention span is so bad these days I can't stay on one book for too long or I get bored, so I'm starting this one over. B&tB will have to wait until I've finished binging this book. :^ Hhhh Hate being scatterbrained.

The Netflix show is great btw. 10/10 from me. Was so sad they cancelled it even after the actors agreed to come back. Typical Netflix tho.

Reading 'til I fall asleep.

Note to self: Remember to make custom book cover for this. I can't afford a new, pretty edition of a book I already own. -w-

Kay is starting Beauty and the Beast-Treasury of Illustrated Classics Storybook Collection
Not reading THIS book yet—I just can't make updates on it otherwise. Still waiting to receive it by mail. The first reason I got it is because I don't know a single word of French and therefore, can't read the original text by Jeanne-Marie.

2nd reason: I'm reading every official ver. of B&tB to compare them. Read Grimm's, reading Gabrielle's. This last one seems to have the least reliable translations.

I'm going back and forth between pages for reference on the appearances of 1) ships, 2) people, and 3) locations. I need this for a project I'm doing that needs this kind of visual accuracy. Notes written so far: 21 full pages.
This book has the Greek names, to my great joy. I cheered upon being handed this copy.

Loving it so far! I'm planning on writing and drawing a picture book, although I'm not sure what it will be about yet until I've read this book. This was a gift from Opa. ❤️

It says a "portion of the proceeds of this book will help fund the SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) Barbara Karlin Runner-Up Grant to recognize and encourage the work of aspiring picture book writers."

😭 I'm sad this is over because it's great. I had only read a few chapters before, during this month, but a few days ago I felt horribly sick like I was wasting away. Everywhere hurt and my stomach was merciless, and the night before I couldn't sleep at all. The morning after is when I began binge-reading this book. Needless to say, I couldn't put it down. It was very comforting to read.

The mangaka mentioned this volume will have way more female characters, since they go to Lutwidge Academy (get it, Charles Lutwidge, AKA Lewis Carroll?). Sounds interesting. 😌

Lent volume one to a girl at my brother's youth orchestra and she never returned it, so I'm re-reading this series instead starting with volume two.

The protagonist is stubborn and defiant as can be expected of a seventeen-year-old mermaid who's frequently told what she can and can't do. It started getting interesting for me in chapter four or five.
