It’s a dense book but I’m really enjoying the creative world building and the raw, dark atmosphere.

Also…wtf was that baby scene?

I think this just isn’t my vibe, I really prefer relationship building earlier than what is written—but that’s my personal taste. TBH just going to finish it for the book count for the year 🤷‍♀️

Yeah…this is just going to be all-typos, same sentences over and over, no plot, and just vibes sort of read.

It’s painful how self-published this book is. Did no one edit this? There is so much potential, but it’s obvious a professional editor didn’t review the final manuscript. The voice is stiff so far, but I’m hoping it can get better?

Getting better, but I still feel like I’m missing something from the main character and the world Robinson built.

It is getting much better as we get deeper into the world building. I especially like the coven dynamic she has introduced and how much care is taken in handlung and describing Vaasa’s growth in controlling her magic. The anxiety and frustration of our main character feels palpable. But hoping that she opens up more as the book goes on.

Eh. Just okay. Feels a bit lacking of explaining the world and the main POVs thoughts and feelings. Vaasa feels very detached from me as the reader. Unsure if this is intentional but will see! Reid also feels like an oddly modern era name and it just brings me out of the story a bit as well

I love Ava Reid’s writing. She effortlessly creates a rich atmosphere in few words with a perfect clarity. All of her characters are equally dynamic, layered, and relatable. Easily one of my favorite authors.
