I'm enjoying this in spite of myself. I find the characters interesting & I identify w/them. I just keep thinking, this would be much more believable if they were in high school or college. Both women are really emotionally immature for their 30s-40s. Because, I once was a teenager, I remember feeling the way these women do. It's an easy read & I'm compelled to keep going as her pacing of the story is good.

I hate it when, "just one more chapter," turns into 2AM & nearly finished. If this were any other author, I'd be sure that Cersei was too important to be done for... But it isn't any other author. No one is safe in GRRM's books.

It' still interests me, (or I wouldn't still be reading,) but I can't help getting annoyed w/the direction he's taking some characters. I'm thoroughly annoyed w/the way he has left Arya (& I suspect I won't get resolution on her in Dances). (I also don't believe she would've missed Sam's comment about Lord Snow.) I'm not very patient, I hope Dance's doesn't just end up pissing me off too.

I can't tell you how many times I said, "Holy Crap! That did not just happen!" It's worse than a Law & Order episode. (Tho, can the good ppl have SOMETHING work out for them???

I actually stopped reading for a couple days bc I see where the book is heading & I'm not happy about it. The complexity of characters & their relationships are part of why these are such good reads. Allowing that the "hero"(s) is/are flawed, keeps the stories from being predictable. However, it would be nice if at least ONE likable character isn't getting 'f'ed in the drive-thru,' at some point in the story.
