I started reading the appendix bc it’s referenced on this page and uhhhhh I definitely need the ebook because I already have thoughts that I MUST write down. I NEED to highlight and annotate !!!!!!!!

The hardcover became available at my local library hoorayyy also there’s so much mention of bodily excretions… am i weirded out bc i’m not the target demographic of this book or is it actually weird

Why does Dickens keep rambling about each new character he introduces… Why do I suddenly have to learn every tiny detail... I just want the story to progress. Suddenly I completely understand why some people hate him. The story was just getting juicy but now it’s boring again 😒

The blurb makes this sound boring, but it’s actually pretty entertaining so far

“I can’t even right now.”
“Oh my god. I cannot.”
You cannot what?? How are these sentences in the narration??? My journal entries are more articulate than this. Leaning towards DNFing.

I do remember seeing Meddy say something like this before, but I excused it because I liked the Aunties. But three (as far as I can tell) chapters in a row without them is really highlighting this book’s flaws.

This book’s too full of misery for me to really enjoy. I need frequent breaks. Excellent storytelling tho.

This book has me screaming, not out of joy, but out of irritation. I don’t hate the book. I hate the main characters.

They speak of torture while they torture me with their toxicity and emotional immaturity!!!!!! I can’t believe I have to keep reading this before the year ends for a reading challenge.

I don’t like it. I feel v uncomfortable in the world that Brontë built in this book. It’s too dark and depressing.

But I want the Fall Vibes award to complete the beta reading challenge. I am reading this against my will.

I paused this book to read two library books and now I have no recollection of who the characters are 🤡

Oooohhh now this is niiiiiiiiice!! A writer who’s clearly skilled at her craft.

This solidifies my opinion that the last book I read was so poorly written it read like a children’s book. Maybe YA if we’re being generous. But this current read? An adult fiction novel appropriately written for adults.

This is so boring to me but I’m fighting the urge to DNF it bc I need it for the challenge faves category of the beta reading challenge

I’m DNFing this because the ebook has formatting issues 💔💔 {10^{10}}^{100} shows up as 1010100 😒 And then I came across something that makes zero sense and likely is another typo/formatting issue 😔 I need to DNF until I can get my hands on the physical book but I wanted to keep a record of where the annoying error is

Okay, I get why Fitzgerald’s a renowned writer. Tarquin of Cheapside and “O Russet Witch!” had me highlighting and annotating while giggling and kicking my feet. I am in awe. The metaphors! The choice of words! The imagery!

Now that I’ve finished the fifth short story (The Diamond as Big as the Ritz), yk what hell yeah. Loved the twist. I started to enjoy it when I realized what Fitzgerald was trying to say in this story. The racism made me wanna puke tho.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was… odd. Interestingly odd. Different from the movie trailer I saw.
