Is the racism and the sense of "God Bless Colonialism" a hard pill to swallow? Absolutely. But Nostalgia is an emotion all too powerful and I will plough on through the insensitive parts. I do love the book overall though. (Rereading after 25-ish years).

This book is giving me the high I had experienced only once before in my life, when I read HHGTTG by Douglas Adams for the first time. And I've been chasing that high for 10 LONG YEARS!!!
