and “who deserved which Nobel
Prize”. The actual physics disappears under the usual handwaving style of hundreds of previous popular science books .

It’s not a book a book about physics, it’s a book about physicists. There is not a single equation, and the whole physics is all hand-waved. Still, it is very well written and the stories about the physicists involved in gauge theory, renormalisation and unification are entertaining. But if you want to actually understand the physics behind it, this book is not for you.
