Almost half way through and I can't put it down. Such an unexpected treasurer, and so much more entertaining that 'Can You Forgive Her'. I have to say I struggled with the first few pages, but since then this book keeps me up long after midnight, every day.

Twenty chapters done, and I am enjoying this immensely. The copy has been languishing on my shelves for years, 59p in Oxfam, and nothing has induced me to read it thus far. However, having read almost everything else in the house I'm pulling out the ones I forgot about. Plus seeing it in the film 'Fahrenheit 451' this week suggested there might be something in it. And there is. Great read, and a real page-turner.

I got a bit fed-up with this. I've decided he isn't one of the authors I particularly like. I'll probably read a few more stories in a month or so.

I've gone back to it. It did get a bit more interesting, and I'm quite enjoying it now.

I've read the first one, and all my friends are there. Odette, Robert, Charles Swann. Amazing!
And now I've re-read the first volume. Wonderful. I might venture on to the next volume soon.

Well, the first volume proved to be every bit as good as previous books - Mr Sampath, the Printer of Malgudi.

I recall few books with such vivid characters, more of which I shall no doubt say later.

We've bid goodnight to the rascally old baron, and just about to enter the party. Hey ho.

Beautiful - I often read Steinbeck, but forgot that short stories could be so moving in so few words.
