I keep trying to read this and not getting back to it. Not a good sign. It's well written, an interesting setting, but it doesn't have that high-stakes, personal feel, it's more removed. I'm not attaching to the characters. Maybe it's like Terry Pratchett for me--a favorite for many, just not my cup of tea.

A classic sci-fi story which many people claim as a lifetime favorite, so I mean to finish it.

A well written book with some parts I love (especially Joe) but it's unrelentingly hard and sads for chapter after chapter (it probably gets better? It must end well for the main character as she settled into a good community and there are future stories with her in it). It's rare for a book to be too much for me but this one felt like too much. I will try something else by Lint.

Yes I have already read/listened to this trilogy, but there are many books after this one I haven't read yet, and I decided I wanted something utterly immersive, absorbing, and well crafted to listen to during this "stay at home" order while I do jigsaw puzzles, so I decided to start again with book one :).

Listening on audio. This one is a mind-bender. I keep falling asleep and missing vital parts so I think I need a print or kindle copy. The world and ideas of Dune are so unique I'm compelled to back and reread parts to understand and look up summaries on the internet, something I would very rarely do. I plan to read through book 4 then go back and reread the first book, which in my opinion is a masterpiece.

Brilliant so far. Strangely it reminds me of reading Lonesome Dove in the depth and complexity of the characters and authenticity of the world.

Having a hard time getting into this one . . . Ideas feel interesting but cannot feel attached to characters . . . Other reviews tell me I should persevere so maybe I'll come back to it
