Impossible not to think of Camus’ The Stranger and Kafka’s The Trial whilst reading: it’s a sort of political-existentialist novel and it was hardly a surprise to find out Delacroix is a Kierkegaard scholar.

Busy summer eh?

Read ‘Tragic Despair and Revolt’. As always, it’s a pleasure to read Williams’ lucid prose and textually-attentive approach. As always, it seems as if he has read absolutely everything.

Not exactly sure how this relates to my dissertation, but it certainly provided food for thought and an enjoyable read. Nice to return to Sartre and Camus and double check that they’re still in petty disputes: all is well.

‘Carolus Patriotus: A Political Allegory’ might just about be the most absurd thing I’ve ever read. And by absurd I mean shit.

A few (welcome and unwelcome) literary distractions recently have slowed progress but henceforth I vow to march on unflinchingly.
