Hello Bluegrass! I'm off to Kentucky to spend all my money on plastic horses!

As I recall from my initial read, this book has an atmosphere of oppressive summer heat. As we are experiencing a brutal cold snap I think this might help me feel a little less frozen.

I chose these books today because I want to start the new year looking at pretty things. Hopefully this will set the tone for the next twelve months.

Goodreads advertising finally got smart. Instead of advertising unappealing books I will never buy or read I am now seeing ads for Breyer models. Saving my $ for the 2025 new releases and Breyerfest tickets go on sale in 3 months. In July we return to my happy place, the Kentucky Horse Park and the Clarion Hotel for massive plastic pony purchases!!!!

The ads on this site are hilarious. Every time I come here, a Breyer ad pops up with a photos of a model horse I don't already have in my collection. This serves as a reminder that I am willing to re-read my old books instead of buying new books in order to have cash in hand to buy plastic ponies.

Although I've visited multiple times, I just want to read this before I visit again. Paradise Found indeed, this place is heaven for horse girls.

My TBR has been conquered! I started reading the last three books on the list and now my "Want To Read" shelf is empty.

I wish those sponsored ads.....the ones that say, "Based on your reading preferences, you might like......" would just go away. The books are mostly the type of literature I avoid at all costs. Give up, GR, you know nothing about my reading preferences and the books are usually the literary equivalent of dishes like Road Kill Casserole with Dumpster Sauce.

GR has removed the "Stop seeing this ad" option from the dropdown menu on sponsored ads.

So I now have a folded sheet of paper hanging over my computer screen which blocks the ads (and posts, unfortunately) and I can slide it over when I need to, or just remove it when I'm on a 'safe' page with no ads.

So there ya go, GR, the most effective ad blocker is in place and there's nothing you can do about it!

In 2021 I spent less than one percent of my annual entertainment budget on books. The remaining ninety nine percent was spent on models for my collection, bodies to customize and supplies and tools for customizing. I did read 190 books this year, but I only purchased one. The 2022 budget will be increased by 25 percent, so we'll see how it is spent.

Yes,, I do see the prompts to vote on the best books of 2021, I'm just ignoring them.

During my October horror marathon this year I read 14 books; not a single one written by Stephen King.

I've concluded my weekly activities on GR before 7am on Monday morning. Why? you ask:

Because this is YA week on Goodreads. The week I traditionally take a vacation from this site. I'm a middle aged adult, so there's nothing here for me.......see you all next Monday!

Yesterday I set aside twenty boxes of books to take to the library for their book sale fundraiser. My Breyer collection needs the shelf space, because I have two more plastic ponies being delivered today, plus seven more pre-release purchases that will be arriving sometime next month.
