This man has gotten me questioning everything omfg....

1) Lantern - 3.75/5 stars

Such a simple story with a powerful message behind it. Happiness is perceived differently by different people, and sometimes happiness can be found in the smallest of things - only for those who are looking for it.

The societal judgment towards women especially, where you are either portrayed as meek or crazy. At the end, its up to us to be the people that we make of to be,

I get that she's unlikeable, the MC but I do felt a kinship with her. I think its not about validating what she's gone through but understanding that the only way that she cn cope after going through something so traumatic, especially to your own body, is just wanting to be listened.

"....competing for my time and attention stopped, as if it hadn't been me, the individual, they'd wanted so badly to see, but rather me, the successful co-owner of a handicrafts store."

god forbid society has a lot to say for women's choices

i love the theme of this book and just the gist of it all. the way i can relate to some of the things too :'))))

with these kind of books, it gives you a sort of an opening - to explore more authors that you are not really familiar with.

whilst some stories are just a flop, some are pretty well-written and i would actually be interested to check out other stories from some of the other authors

3rd Story: The Fruiting Body by Bridget Collins - 4🌟

This one was well-done, would love if the ending was as good too!
The thing about the darkness, which one do we need to fear most? The unseen or the horror inflicted by humans themselves?

2nd Story: Flight 2212 by J K Chukwu - 3.25🌟

This one had so much potential but was such a very bad miss. I was dissapointed because it delves into body horror but was poorly executed.

1st Story: Fight, Flight, Freezy by Susan Barker - 3.65🌟

If I were the ghost, I will haunt the MC too. She did her dirty.
Also, loved that Malaysia is highlighted in here!!

Found myself breezing through this book.

The complex dynamics of each characters, the fights between sisters, the mere existence of just being human, and a woman.

The prologue was splendidly done. At the heart of this story, if you have siblings of any kind, especially when most of them are sisters, it will hit something inside that you didn't know will hit.

elena is the longest so far, and i for one am just enjoying the ride

Its a kind of dark humour that makes me laugh so much :') i'm still reeling over the whole page its just funny to me (to others it might not be) but AGH hahaha

The fact that this is based on a real story, and some excerpts especially from men are from real people? it makes me want to hit somebody

Going through the lives of a courtesan in the Meiji era - through the eyes of Ichi is wildly entertaining but also filled with anger as well. Its also a reality of the courtesans there and at the end how women were treated. Dind't expect to really be absorbed with the story, but boy had this story made me feel things
