Nieve, fantasmas y detectives. Good stuff.

Artemis

Una buena premisa, pero la ejecución deja que desear. Hizo falta profundizar ideas y claridad en ciertas partes de la narración.

Carátulas

Aunque hubo nieve, quizá no un cuento muy navideño. Quizá un poco predecible, pero bien escrito y disfrutable.

El Santo Oficio

No me encantó como acabó el volumen anterior, pero este… grandes personajes y además el cambio de escena promete un arco sumamente interesante.

El día de la justicia

Debo confesar que estaba disfrutando bastante este arco hasta que llegó el final de este tomo, que fue demasiado “y vivieron felices para siempre”. ¿Qué pasó aquí, Sr. Zevaco?

Raise a glass to new friends

Quite enjoying some of these new friends, and the naturalness of their quirks. Hoping part three will prove my hunches correct.

La Prisionera

En este nuevo arco hemos llegado a mi escena de acción favorita hasta el momento, y esto de que empiecen a aparecer códigos además me tiene contenta. Los secretos se empiezan a esclarecer y el momento anhelado del reencuentro se acerca cada vez más. O al menos eso creo.

Around every corner, a familiar face

God did I miss laughing with this bunch of retirees. Makes me want to be one myself.

Endings

I feel stupid. I didn’t not see it, I needed to have it spelled out for me and the it seemed so blatantly obvious.

I was only supposed to read one chapter, but ended up reading an entire section. Good job, Ms Setterfield.

Middles

A good middle, truly engaging with unexpected revelations and intriguing characters. Some great imagery in Angelfield.

I must say, that much of the narration constantly has me in doubt of what time the story is set in, which I don’t particularly mind, I feel it adds quite a bit to its mystique. Enjoying it so far, and excited To see how it all comes together.

El nivel de ironía trágica en esta obra, madre mia.

Beginnings

Beautifully written so far, with intricate stories interlacing in ways I’m still not too sure if I like; is it too coincidental or does it fall into place just right?

Many questions have been posed which I hope will begin to be answered soon enough.

My father spoiled the meaning of this chapter for me. To be fair, it was accidental. It’s still good relationship insights.

I do not enjoy all these sections with Dora in them. They piss me off, proper.

Juan el Bravo

Un nuevo arco, y eso nos encanta para descubrir nuevos personajes que refresquen el interés y la intriga. Además, espectacular que todo este tomo transcurra en tan solo 24 horas, resaltando la capacidad de Zevaco de retener el interés del lector con su narrativa y manejo del tiempo.

Praise Dickens all you want, but I simply do not like it when he talks of Dora. Makes me cross.

El vengador de su madre

Intenso no lo describe. Acontecieron en este libro demasiadas cosas que me dejaron atónita, dando un cierre inesperado de varias maneras a este arco. Claramente, muy al estilo Zevaco, no fue un "y vivieron felices para siempre" y por eso yo lo quiero tanto.

I had felt that the treatment of Uriah seemed rather unfair and baseless, but I am now convinced.

I truly cannot bear Dora.

Part II

For a children’s book that should be an easy ready, it has in fact been slow progress. I continue to struggle to get engaged. There has, however, been more violence and death than I originally expected.

Nonstationary and Noisy Function Optimisation

An interesting chapter clearly illustrating the complexities of RL problems, and giving useful insight into different approaches to said challenges.

Part I

This book was gifted to me by an esteemed friend so o thought I would get out of my comfort zone and give it a try, but man, have I struggled. I can only hope that Part II brings the juicy stuff to help me engage.

Hybridisation with Other Techniques: Memetic Algorithms

This as a particularly interesting chapter for me; I had previously heard of MAs but didn’t quite know what they were. Now that I have a better understanding of them I’m even tempted to explore them in practise at some point as I can now clearly visualise their usefulness.

So much drama. The fate of Mr Spenlow caught me completely off guard. I am still in shock.

Working with Evolutionary Algorithms

A very interesting chapter to end Part II. This brief chapter poses some very interesting questions, questions that are important to consider as you get started or be reminded of if you’ve worked in the field for a while. This time the one that really rang a bell is considering the purpose and the problem nature - design vs repetitive.

Acto I

Micro tragedias, al terminar el primer acto me pregunto si conforme avanza se irán mezclando las historias, o seguirán siendo fragmentos unidos por tragedia únicamente.
