I have just finished the introduction. I am curious how Dowling will define care and address the– now partly rhetorical question– on whom does care work get offloaded to? I enjoyed reading Dowling's descriptions of her research process. Very useful.

"Communicating the only way we could, with the few words we still shared. Each slowly stitching us back together." --- Loving this.

Beautiful:

"As we write, as we work with language—the humblest and most powerful force available to us—we activate the potential of words, phrases, sentences. Writing as we grieve, grieving as we write: a practice able to create refuge from the open. Writing with others. Grieving like someone who takes refuge from the open. Grieving, which is always a radically different mode of writing."
