This is not my kind of book but I inadvertently signed myself up to read it along with a coworker. So. Here we are.

I loathe books written in the present tense but so far this one is okay.

“I would never know what that finch said, and isn’t that really the disappointment of being human?”

“The advertisements promised I would feel like myself again, but what if I don’t remember who that was anymore? . . . If over time Miltown made me myself again, I was curious to see who that person was…”

The writing here is so much better than most modern day content. I’m enjoying it.

I am enjoying this book. The author’s writing is more sophisticated than most modern day authors (which is why I don’t read new stuff much). This is a pleasant surprise.

Does anything ever actually happen in this book?

The main character/narrator of this book is so annoying and unlikable. 😆

Geez. I am only 17 pages in and have already decided I don’t like the main character or the author. 🤣 Why is she so obsessed with poo? I still want to know what happens with the story but I’m not enjoying this much at all. I’ll brace myself for a DNF.

I have to finish this before the end of October. Haha.

P.S. Night Surf is Laymon-esque. Laymon is what I thought of when reading this one.

Night Surf. Well that was unpleasant. Not a story I feel the need to ever read again. LOL. I would, however, read Graveyard Shift again.

Graveyard Shift. Well damn. That was creepy. =\

Jerusalem’s Lot always feels like a slag to me. It always seems to take me an eternity to get through it and when I’m done I don’t really remember much of anything about it.

“What’s friendship’s realest measure? I’ll tell you. The amount of precious time you’ll squander on someone else’s calamities and fuck-ups.”
