Strongly considering DNF'ing this one. While there are some interesting tidbits, the writing style is chaotic and it doesn't really answer the titular question. I expected more psychological and scientific examinations. Instead the essays focus tend to make one pretty basic cultural point each, and then beat you over the head with it repeatedly, buried in a list of plot points from various movies.
